Pre-season moves onto the next step, with VfB travelling to their training camp on Lake Tegernsee on Monday morning. The squad have a three-and-a-half hour journey on the team bus from Mercedesstraße in Stuttgart to the town of Rottach-Egern. Here are the answers to some of the questions you may have:
Where exactly is VfB’s training camp being held?
The lads from Cannstatt will be working up a sweat on the shores of Lake Tegernsee in the town of Rottach-Egern (population: c. 5,000), and staying at the ‘Seehotel Überfahrt’. The training sessions will take place at FC Rottach-Egern’s training ground.
Are the training sessions open to the public?
Yes, all of the sessions at the training camp should be open to the public. The precise timings will be communicated shortly before the sessions begin and you are advised to keep a close eye on VfB’s social media channels.
Which players are taking part in the training camp?
VfB are taking almost a full squad to the camp, including goalkeepers Alexander Nübel, Fabian Bredlow and Stefan Drljaca and four new recruits: Lorenz Assignon, Noah Darvich, Lazar Jovanovic and Chema Andrés. Defenders Ameen Al-Dakhil, Ramon Hendriks, Josha Vagnoman, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Luca Jaquez, Pascal Stenzel, Leonidas Stergiou, Jeff Chabot and Finn Jeltsch will be making the trip, along with midfielders/forwards Yannik Keitel, Angelo Stiller, Enzo Millot, Ermedin Demirovic, Chris Führich, Nick Woltemade, Atakan Karazor, Justin Diehl, Jamie Leweling, Deniz Undav and Nikolas Nartey.
Four youth players are also on the team bus, namely goalkeeper Florian Hellstern and outfield players Mirza Catovic, Efe Korkut and Lauri Penna.
Dan-Axel Zagadou and Silas will sit out the training camp due to injury.
The Cannstatt boys will round off the camp with a friendly against French Ligue 1 side FC Toulouse, who ended last season in 10th place. The game in Heimstetten, near Munich, will kick off at 15:00 CEST on Saturday 2 August.
