“A good level of intensity”

Jamie Leweling and Co wished head coach Sebastian Hoeneß happy birthday on Tuesday as VfB began the week in high spirits.

Training began with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ on Tuesday 12 May in honour of head coach Sebastian Hoeneß turning 44, with players and staff all in fine voice before the session got underway in earnest.

The good atmosphere among the group continued as focus shifted to the upcoming Bundesliga Matchday 34 trip to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday 16 May, a game which offers VfB the chance to secure UEFA Champions League qualification.

“It was a good session and there was a good level of intensity in the team,” said Jamie Leweling. “We know we have to win this match if we want to achieve our big objective.”

The attacker has been in fine form himself lately, and has enjoyed a best-ever Bundesliga campaign with seven goals and nine assists in total. He’s hoping to help his team again on the last matchday of the season on Saturday: “Our focus is completely on Frankfurt. It’s a final.”
