“I’m really happy”

Tiago Tomas is back in Stuttgart and looking forward to his second spell at VfB and working with head coach Sebastian Hoeneß again.

In this interview Tiago Tomas discusses his impressions after returning to VfB, the team’s development and his good relationship with Sebastian Hoeneß.

Tiago, a very warm welcome back to VfB. It’s nice to see you in white and red again. What have your first impressions been?

Tiago Tomas: “I’m really happy to be able to play for VfB again. I’m delighted and am looking forward to being part of the whole team. I’ve got high hopes and very positive memories of my first spell in Stuttgart.”

How have you perceived VfB’s development since 2023 from afar?

Tiago Tomas: “I stayed in touch with a few players. The team has played some really attractive football and it’s a style of play I can really identify with. I’m familiar with some of coach Sebastian Hoeneß’ ideas from my first time in Stuttgart.”

To what extent did the fact that you already know the coach play a role in your transfer?

Tiago Tomas: “I only worked with Sebastian Hoeneß for a few months. I hold him in high regard, not only as a coach but also for his personal qualities and communication skills. Obviously, all of that played a role in my transfer. I’m looking forward to training under him again and I hope I can quickly reach my best level and help the team.”

You will still be familiar with a few faces in the changing room. Have you already envisaged what the reunion will be like?

Tiago Tomas: “It’ll be great to see the boys again, I’m looking forward to it. I already know Atakan Karazor, Chris Führich, Fabian Bredlow, Pascal Stenzel, Josha Vagnoman, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Niko Nartey really well. Obviously, the squad has changed since I was last here, which makes sense, but it’s always nice to see familiar faces.”
