“A dream to play in the Bundesliga”

Lazar Jovanovic is VfB’s third new signing for the 2025/26 season. He has an exciting time ahead of him, which the young attacker has prepared well for.

Lazar, welcome to VfB. You’re wearing the new VfB shirt for the first time for the photo shoot. How do you like it?

Lazar Jovanovic: “I like the shirt – it’s vintage and smart. I like the design as well as the colours of white and red, of course. I’m already looking forward to when I get to wear the kit on the pitch for the first time.”

What are your general thoughts about your upcoming time in Stuttgart?

Lazar Jovanovic: “I feel great excitement. It will be my first time playing for a club outside my home country, which is something quite special. I’m very happy to be able to take this step and, of course, I want to contribute as much as possible at VfB, continue to develop and hopefully celebrate lots of wins with my team-mates and the fans.“

Do you already know any players at VfB?

Lazar Jovanovic: “I don’t really know any guys personally yet, but I’ve watched VfB matches on TV and online. I already bumped into Noah Darvich at the hotel and got to have a quick chat with him. I’m sure I’ll soon settle in.”

Why did you decide on a move to VfB and the Bundesliga?

Lazar Jovanovic: “The Bundesliga is one of the best five leagues in the world. It’s a dream to play here and a big motivation for me. VfB have attracted a lot of attention in recent times, they’re a club that rely on young players. VfB’s performance in the Champions League impressed me as well: the team played with confidence and implemented their playing philosophy. There were a lot of strong performances in there – although it was a very different story in Belgrade.”

Most VfB fans won’t have seen you play yet. How would you describe your playing style?

Lazar Jovanovic: “I like to be involved in attack, use my speed and constantly find solutions – whether it’s through dribbling, movement or passing. I try to set up my team-mates or get into goalscoring positions myself. My aim is to become the most complete attacking player I can be.”
