A skilful team player with an eye for goal, Badredine Bouanani not only made his Ligue 1 debut at the age of 18, he went on to make a further 64 appearances in the French top flight.
On Sunday, the 20-year-old attacker completed a move from OGC Nice to VfB, and he sat down with us for an interview shortly afterwards.
Badredine, a very warm welcome to Stuttgart. How does it feel to be at VfB?
Badredine Bouanani: “It feels very good. VfB Stuttgart are a big club and I’m very happy to be here. I followed the Bundesliga in France and I like the way VfB play. I’m happy to be joining the team now and I can hardly wait to play in this wonderful stadium in front of our fans for the first time.”
How would you describe your playing style?
Badredine Bouanani: “I can play as a wide attacker on the right, but I can also play in the middle. I like creating chances for my team-mates, dribbling and being dangerous in front of goal. I just want to keep developing and to use my qualities to contribute to us being successful as a team.”
Your transfer happened very quickly over the past few hours. How important is it to you to get to know your new team-mates?
Badredine Bouanani: “It’s very important to me. I’m looking forward to meeting the boys and I can hardly wait for my first training session with them. That will help me to settle at the club and in the city and to get to know everything in the coming days and weeks.”
Away from the pitch, what sort of person are you?
Badredine Bouanani: “I’m more of a quiet guy and not much of a big talker. I try to do my talking out on the pitch, instead of with words (laughs). That’s more my style and it’s also how I am in my private life.”
