On Monday morning, the VfB players completed another part of their performance tests – this time including goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Angelo Stiller, Deniz Undav, and Ermedin Demirović. Having represented their countries during the international break in June, it was agreed that they would start pre-season preparations a little later. Enzo Millot is also back in Cannstatt.
The process and scope were similar to the performance tests that most of head coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s squad underwent a week earlier. “We just have to grit our teeth and get through it, that’s part of football,” said Undav, before adding with a grin: “But of course, the sense of anticipation ahead of training on the pitch is definitely a bit stronger.”
Second straight season in Europe
Although Undav enjoyed his time on vacation, he is now glad to be back at the club’s headquarters. “I missed the guys,” said the striker. “It's fun to be back here and work together. Pre-season will be tough so it’s good that we also have a lot of fun together.”
The 28-year-old has big plans for the upcoming campaign: “We’re playing in Europe for the second season in a row, which is something special. We want to continue being successful and are really excited for the new season.”
