Deniz Undav has made good use of the current international break. After suffering a knee ligament injury on Matchday 2 of the Bundesliga, the 29-year-old is back in full training with the team. The striker has also been able to get some game time under his belt, setting up the second goal in the 2-0 win in the friendly against SV Elversberg last Thursday.
‘Use the other sessions’
“I’m doing well, I’m feeling good and I’ve coped well with the 60 minutes I played,” said Undav, adding: “Now I want to use the other sessions in the same way.” He’s excited to be back on the pitch with the rest of the squad – and to score in training again. “It’s always nice to score as a striker – even in training,” remarked Undav, who’s working on a timely comeback ahead of a busy period.
No fewer than seven fixtures lie ahead for VfB in the next three and a half weeks – four in the Bundesliga, two in the UEFA Europa League and one in the DFB Cup. That’s followed by the final international break of the year. Undav has a clear target in mind until then: “We want to make a success of this block. We’ll need all the boys and want to pick up good results together.”
