The first-round draw for the 2026/27 DFB Cup was made at the German Football Museum on Saturday evening, pitting VfB away to third-division outfit F.C. Hansa Rostock.
Fixtures will be played between 21 and 24 August, with exact dates and kick-off times to be confirmed in due course.
Fabian Wohlgemuth, board member for sport at VfB, said of the draw: “We’ve enjoyed a great deal of success in the DFB Cup in recent years and want to pick up where we left off after the summer break. At the same time, we know from last season just how challenging this competition can be, even in the first round. As such, we’re taking the match against F.C. Hansa Rostock very seriously and know that we’ll need to be ready from the first minute.”
