Wahid Faghir has left VfB and joined his boyhood club Vejle BK in Denmark ahead of the new season. The 21-year-old took his first steps in professional football with Vejle before his switch to VfB in summer 2021. Faghir made seven first-team appearances for VfB and scored one goal, a stoppage-time equaliser against Union Berlin on Matchday 9 of the 2021/22 campaign.
He spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Danish top-flight club FC Nordsjaelland, before another loan spell at SV Elversberg in Bundesliga 2 in the 2023/24 campaign. Last season, the forward played a key role for the VfB U21s, helping them to stay in the 3. Liga with 12 goals in 30 games.
Commenting on Faghir’s departure, VfB sporting director Christian Gentner said: “Wahid made an important contribution to our U21 team’s survival in the 3. Liga last season. We thank Wahid for his time in the VfB shirt and wish him the best of luck and success for the future.”
Thanks for your efforts, Wahid, and all the best for the future!
