Thank you, Jacob!

Jacob Bruun Larsen, who won the DFB Cup with VfB, has left the club to join English side Burnley FC.

Jacob Bruun Larsen enjoyed a perfect start to his time in Stuttgart. Having signed his contract on 8 January, he came off the bench just four days later to help VfB earn a 1-0 away win at FC Augsburg.

Three days after that, he was named in the starting line-up at home to RB Leipzig. The attacker scored VfB’s equaliser to make it 1-1 and celebrated a 2-1 victory with his new team-mates at the final whistle. The Dane’s amicable character meant he swiftly and seamlessly integrated into the squad, whom he helped to DFB Cup glory in May.

Now, after making 16 competitive appearances for VfB in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, including one goal and one assist, Bruun Larsen has completed a transfer to English Premier League side Burnley FC.

Fabian Wohlgemuth, board member for sport at VfB, said:

“Jacob immediately became an important asset for our team following his move in January. We all fondly remember his goal in the home win against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Jacob approached us expressing his desire to take the opportunity to move to the Premier League. We agreed to the transfer because the necessary conditions were met, and we now wish Jacob and his family all the best and every success for the future.”

Two spells at VfB

It was the second time that the 26-year-old had laced his boots in Cannstatt, having previously made four appearances for the club on loan, at the age of 19, in 2017/18. With his warmth, dedication and team spirit, he experienced several moments in Stuttgart that will live long in the memory for him, the fans and club officials.

Thank you, Jacob, and all the best for the future!
