“Could have got something out of the match”

Despite being disappointed with the result, Sebastian Hoeneß was pleased with his side’s performance. Atakan Karazor and Jeff Chabot also spoke after the game.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We weren’t clinical enough to take anything away from Rome, and that’s hard to swallow, because for long periods of the game, we caused Roma a few problems. We created big chances but didn’t have that killer instinct at the right moments. We’re disappointed with tonight’s result but certainly not with the performance that we put in – it was a great night, even though we didn’t manage to score the goals and reap the rewards that could have come from the situations we created.”

Atakan Karazor: “It’s a tough defeat to take. We knew what to expect with how Roma tend to play, with man-marking right across the pitch. We managed to keep finding solutions and creating chances, and it just ended up being the final touch that was lacking every time. We’ve already proved on a number of occasions that we’re capable of doing it – we just need to prove it again, because we had plenty of cut-and-dried chances to do that tonight.”

Jeff Chabot: “It hurts to have lost tonight. We put a lot into it, didn’t back off from the one-on-ones and carved out chances for ourselves. We just couldn’t put them away, while Roma certainly did make the most of their opportunities. It’s really frustrating as we could have got something out of the match.”
