“Pleased with the win”

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, goalscorer Bilal El Khannouss and defender Jeff Chabot assess the 1-0 win over Heidenheim.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “It was a lot about desire and mentality today; the lads covered a lot of ground. It obviously would’ve spared the nerves if we’d scored the second goal, and because we didn’t, it remained open until the end. Overall we didn’t give much away and also stayed alert to the long balls in the closing stages. We’re pleased with the win.”

Bilal El Khannouss: “My goal was just instinct: I knew I’d got myself in a good finishing position and after that I tried to get the ball on target with pressure and precision. That makes it all the more pleasing it came off. It feels great to have got these three points. We’re very happy, it was an important win and one we ground out together. The legs are a bit wearier after this busy week, but we put in a lot of effort as a team for this win.”

Jeff Chabot: “We knew it could be a difficult, intensive match in which we wouldn’t get that many chances. That made it all the more important that we didn’t allow much defensively and kept the clean sheet. It’s good to have got this win before the international break. We worked hard for the 1-0 and are happy about the three points.”
