Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “Having to chase the game after going 2–0 down was tough for us. The team gave it a real go and showed a lot of commitment in the second half. We created plenty of chances overall, but unfortunately only managed to make one of them count. If we’d pulled a goal back earlier, we would probably have taken something from the game. The match finished in a frustrating way for us with Luca Jaquez picking up an injury, as that meant we had to play the remainder a man down. We also had a goal ruled out for offside. All in all, it was a day to forget for us.”
Atakan Karazor: “This defeat hurts a lot. It was like some things were a continuation of last season, namely that we have to do so much just to score a goal. We put in a lot of effort. Ultimately, we simply need to be even more determined and even more ruthless. That’s exactly what we’re working on.”
Tiago Tomás: “It’s frustrating that we weren’t able to equalise. We fought hard and really gave it a good go. Unfortunately, that was only enough to get one goal. We could have got more. Union were really clinical. We’ll have to analyse the game and keep working hard.”
