Finn Jeltsch joins VfB

German Under-17 World Cup and European Under-17 Championship winner Finn Jeltsch, who was a first-team regular with 1. FC Nürnberg at 18, boosts VfB’s defensive options.

VfB Stuttgart have completed the signing of Finn Jeltsch, who joins the club from second-division 1. FC Nürnberg on a contract until 30 June 2030. The 18-year-old defender, who stands at 1.88m tall, has been handed the number 29 shirt.

New signing Finn Jeltsch: “I’m delighted to be at VfB and to be able to take the next step in my development. The move to the Bundesliga is a dream come true for me. I’m really looking forward to my new challenge, my team-mates and the club as a whole.”

Fabian Wohlgemuth, board member for sport: “Finn Jeltsch is one of the best young players in his position in Germany. At the age of 18, he has already played 31 games in Bundesliga 2. We’re delighted we’ve been able to tie Finn down to VfB for the long term.”

Jeltsch was born in Neuendettelsau on 17 July 2006. He started out at amateur club SV Raitersaich before joining Nürnberg’s youth academy in summer 2015. He was just 17 years old when he made his Bundesliga 2 debut on 18 February 2024, and has since started every league game for the club - apart from a two-match injury-enforced absence earlier this term.  He has made 33 senior appearances overall, scoring one goal.

The defender has already won two major honours as a Germany youth player, lifting the Under-17 World Cup and the European Under-17 Championship in 2023. He has won 35 caps at youth level and is currently part of the Under-19 squad.
