“Tomorrow we’ll switch focus”

Sebastian Hoeneß, Fabian Bredlow and Maximilian Mittelstädt with the reaction to the 4-1 defeat against PSG.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We’re very disappointed with the result and the manner of the defeat. It was a combination of a nightmare start to the game by conceding early on, and facing a really strong PSG side. They went into the game in an extremely focused way and they were better than us in almost every aspect. Now that our Champions League journey has come to an end, I’d like to praise my team for the way they performed in this competition. We’ve got a young team that gained a lot of experience at the very highest level. That will help them as they continue to develop. We can allow ourselves to be sad today, but tomorrow we’ll switch focus to look forward.”

Fabian Bredlow: “It’s an extremely disappointing evening. We had big plans going into the game but the early goal we conceded affected us. We have to admit that Paris were by far the better team here and they deserved to win. We’re extremely disappointed and sad right now, but we know we’re still in good positions in the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup. That’s what we need to focus on together now.”

Maximilian Mittelstädt: “Today we faced a world-class team. We knew we would need to produce a top-notch performance to get something from the game. Paris made life difficult for us right from the start. They’ve got unbelievable individual quality and they deserved to win. Nevertheless, we’ve had a fantastic Champions League journey. We’re proud to have had this experience, even if we’re feeling sad right at the moment. Now we have to try and do as well as possible in the Bundesliga.”
