Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We’re not satisfied, we’re disappointed. We knew it would be a challenging game. Overall, we were in control and our intensity was good but we only rarely managed to create any chances. We weren’t able to even see a 1-1 draw over the line. That’s a criticism we have to accept. We need to improve because we were in a good position and we gave it away far too cheaply.”
Alexander Nübel: “It was a strange game. We actually started the match pretty well, but Gladbach scored the first goal. You could sense that that affected us and we didn’t recover very well. We showed a good reaction after the break. We put them under pressure and deservedly got the equaliser. After that there was a fairly wild period in which both teams had some very good chances to score. At the end of the day it wasn’t enough and we didn’t even pick up a point.”
Angelo Stiller: “We lost at home so I’m sure everyone can imagine how disappointed we are right now. We were actually pretty decent for much of the match and we had things under control at 1-1. We were determined to get a second goal, but we made too many mistakes and Gladbach punished us ruthlessly. They didn’t actually have to do very much to get the win today. We should have taken more from the game, which is why this defeat is so frustrating.”
