Following the VfB Christmas concert, on Wednesday morning the first team players continued their preparations for the final home game of the year, which will be their 25th competitive fixture in the first half of the 2024/25 season.
“We’ll give everything again in this last week of training in order to end the year on a high note at home against St. Pauli,” said centre-back Jeff Chabot. “That’s the most important thing. It’s good that we’re able to focus on the opponent for a few days in this ‘normal’ week so that we can be as prepared as possible for the game and also recover properly. We’ll give it our all for the fans on Saturday and we’re raring to go. We want to wrap up a successful first half of the campaign together.”
With 1,679 minutes played so far this term, Chabot is among the players to have spent most time on the pitch, behind just Alexander Nübel, Angelo Stiller (both with 1,980 minutes), Atakan Karazor (1,813) and Maximilian Mittelstädt (1,717).
“I’ll spend the Christmas break with my family and recharge my batteries,” continued the 26-year-old, who already has half an eye on the challenges that await in three different competitions in 2025. “We’ve got some special games coming up and we’re already looking forward to the second half of the season.”
