Last Sunday’s match against FC Augsburg brought to an end a successful 2024/25 campaign on home turf for VfB, with the players enjoying a lap of honour around the pitch following their 4-0 success to thank fans for their incredible support again this season.
The result made it back-to-back wins for Sebastian Hoeneß’s side, building on their 1-0 triumph at FC St. Pauli. “It gives us momentum for our upcoming tasks,” said Jeff Chabot, who has made 30 Bundesliga appearances this term, in an interview with VfB TV. “Now we want to play well again in our last league game in Leipzig.”
Victory on Saturday (kick-off 15:30 CEST) would not only take VfB to the 50-point mark for the campaign, it would match the team’s three-game winning sequence from the start of 2025.
VfB kicked off the new year with a win over Augsburg and followed that up with a 2-1 success over Leipzig. The teams met again in the DFB Cup semi-final in April at the MHP Arena, where Hoeneß’s charges won 3-1. Here’s to the boys from Cannstatt completing the treble over Leipzig this weekend!
