Dennis Seimen joins SC Paderborn 07 on loan

The 19-year-old goalkeeper will don his gloves in Bundesliga 2 next season in order to take the next steps in professional football.

Dennis Seimen played a major role in VfB’s U21 side maintaining their third-division status in 2024/25 thanks to a series of impressive displays that included five clean sheets. Now, the 19-year-old, who has a long-term contract at VfB until 30 June 2029, will have the opportunity to continue his development at a higher level after completing a one-year loan move to Bundesliga 2 club SC Paderborn 07 for the 2025/26 campaign.

Paderborn, who finished the recently ended season in fourth, offer the youngster excellent conditions to take the next steps in his career.

Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB board member for sport: “Dennis has already reached an extraordinary level for a goalkeeper at just 19 years old. He’s developed superbly at VfB in recent years and was a big factor in our U21 side avoiding relegation from the third division in the season just gone. Dennis represents the future of goalkeeping at VfB, which is why we gave him a long-term contract last year.

“We had very trusting talks with Dennis, in which we discussed which step made the most sense for him and his development. By moving to Paderborn on loan for a year, Dennis can now take the next steps in professional football at an ambitious club in Bundesliga 2, before returning to VfB. We will follow his progress closely and we wish Dennis and Paderborn a successful season.”

Dennis Seimen: “I’ve learned an incredible amount at VfB in the last 10 years and for that I’m incredibly grateful to all the coaches, trainers and staff. After gaining valuable experience in the third and fourth divisions over the last two years, now I have the chance to take the next step at one of the best clubs in Bundesliga 2. I’m really looking forward to it, and at the same time I’d like to wish VfB all the best and every success for the upcoming season.”

VfB wishes Dennis a restful summer break and a successful 2025/26 campaign.
