Maximilian Mittelstädt and Fabian Rieder were first on the training pitch – and for good reason. The VfB duo tried some new football boots and pinged a few balls to each other before being joined a little later by their team-mates. As expected, fit-again Deniz Undav was involved from the start, taking part in sprinting, shooting and passing drills in front of the watching VfB fans.
Tuesday morning’s open session at the Club Centre was VfB’s first this week. Sebastian Hoeneß’s side have five more days to prepare for their first Bundesliga assignment of 2025 – an away match against FC Augsburg at 17:30 CET on Sunday.
The players stopped for autographs and selfies after the session. Undav and captain Atakan Karazor were last to leave the pitch, chatting to one or two supporters before making their way to the changing room.
