Sebastian Hoeneß signs VfB extension

The head coach has extended his VfB contract, which was due to expire in 2025, until 30 June 2027. Assistant coach David Krecidlo has also committed his future until summer 2027.

Sebastian Hoeneß and his players have enjoyed great success since the 41-year-old’s appointment as VfB Stuttgart head coach on 4 April 2023. Hoeneß has now agreed to extend his contract with the club, which was due to expire in 2025, until 30 June 2027. Assistant coach David Krecidlo, who joined VfB at the same time as Hoeneß and who was part of his coaching staff at several other clubs, has also committed his future until 30 June 2027.

"I'm delighted to have signed an early contract extension with VfB," said Hoeneß. "Together, we've managed to set VfB on a good path.
Our goal must be to follow this path in a sustainable manner in order to re-establish VfB in the top half of the table on a permanent basis. Working with this squad, the coaching team and the entire staff, and experiencing the wonderful support of the fans, has been great fun from the get-go. Last but not least, the constructive talks with Alexander Wehrle, Fabian Wohlgemuth and Christian Gentner prompted me to extend my contract ahead of schedule. My focus now, more than ever, is on this crucial part oft the current campaign."

VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: "I won’t beat about the bush. Sebastian Hoeneß’s early contract extension is more important for our continued development on the pitch than any other personnel matter at the club at the moment. David Krecidlo, assistant coach and long-time confidant by Sebastian’s side, has also played a key role in our success. We’re happy to know that we can continue on our long-term path with Sebastian Hoeneß and David Krecidlo. The talks that have led us here have always been open and based on trust."
