Looking back
VfB were beaten twice by Wolfsburg last season, losing 3-2 away and 1-0 on home soil.
They last beat the Wolves in December 2021, when goals from Konstantinos Mavropanos and Philipp Förster earned the Cannstatt boys all three points in Wolfsburg.
Reunited
Tiago Tomas faces his former club for the first time on Saturday, having spent one and a half years on loan at Stuttgart between January 2022 and June 2023. He briefly returned to parent club Sporting CP in the summer before joining Wolfsburg on a permanent basis.
At the double
Deniz Undav became the fourth VfB player to score twice in a game this season in VfB’s 2-0 victory at Köln last time out. Silas (vs. Bochum on MD1) and Chris Führich (vs. Freiburg on MD3) have both netted braces this term, while Serhou Guirassy has scored at least twice on four separate occasions already. The striker bagged doubles against Bochum, Freiburg and Darmstadt and even scored a hat-trick against Mainz.
Personnel
Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “Everyone who was carrying a knock has trained normally today. I’m expecting them all to be available, but we still have one or two doubts. Josha Vagnoman was involved in parts of team training but he’s not in contention for the home game against Wolfsburg.”
VfB will also be without Wooyeong Jeong (Asian Games), Dennis Seimen und Nikolas Nartey (both injured).
