On Sunday evening Shkodran Mustafi, who won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany, made the draw for the second round of the DFB Cup at the German Football Museum, drawing VfB Stuttgart against 1. FC Union Berlin.
Sebastian Hoeneß’ side will welcome their Bundesliga rivals to the MHPArena on either Tuesday 31 October or Wednesday 1 November. The exact date and kick-off time will follow in due course.
VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “We’re very pleased that we’ve got a home game. We’re also playing them a few days before this cup tie in the Bundesliga, although that one will be in Berlin. Union are in the Champions League, so it’ll be a very tough challenge, but we’ll do everything we can to reach the last 16.”
