…competition for places up front: “I don’t think there’s a great deal of competition between Niclas and myself. We’ll cheer each other on when the other is on the pitch. Niclas has great qualities. Whenever he has the ball, you don’t need to worry about him losing it. He’s good at finishing, even if I’m better (laughs).”

…his decision to represent Germany: “My decision has been clear from the outset. I wanted to play for Germany because I grew up here. I was very happy to receive the call from the national team coach.”
