Malik Fathi bolsters VfB coaching staff

As of next season, Malik Fathi will be part of the first-team coaching staff as an additional assistant alongside David Krecidlo. The former Bundesliga player has been working as a youth coach in the Hertha BSC academy.

Fathi, 39, has signed a contract as assistant coach at VfB until 30 June 2025. The Berlin native made a total of 175 Bundesliga appearances as a player for Hertha and 1. FSV Mainz 05, as well as earning two caps for Germany.

VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: "Malik Fathi had a successful playing career and knows the Bundesliga very well. We're convinced that as an additional assistant coach he will make an important contribution to our team's development."

Malik Fathi: "I'm very pleased to now be making the step from youth to senior level as an assistant coach at VfB Stuttgart. I played with Sebastian Hoeneß in the Hertha reserves and I've also known David Krecidlo for a long time. Together with them and the rest of the coaches and staff members, I will do my best for VfB."
