Furthermore, the trip, which is organised by VfB's experienced partner Onside, will be used for team-building and training as well as sponsor and PR appointments. The CO2 emissions of the team's flights will be calculated and a voluntary donation will be made to the climate protection projects of VfB partner NABU, Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.
VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle: "We're shortening the long break for the World Cup for the team with this trip in a sensible way, while also doing something for the internationalisation of both VfB and the Bundesliga as a whole. Our league is shaped by large, member-led clubs that are steeped in tradition. It's important that we show our presence in regions like the USA after the coronavirus-enforced break, and not to leave it to other big leagues and clubs. Thanks to our head coach and Stuttgart's historically close connection with the USA, we're a perfect fit for this tour. I'm sure we'll generate a lot of positive publicity for VfB and at the same time put together an unforgettable trip for the boys."
Rouven Kasper, VfB Head of marketing and sales: "The USA is one of the most important target markets in our internationalisation strategy given the steadily increasing interest in football there. On top of that, Texas is a particularly exciting state given its proximity to Mexico and the resulting enthusiasm for football. We're looking forward to at least one high-profile friendly game and the many opportunities to present VfB as a likeable, cosmopolitan club in the USA, as well as to be able to offer our partners added value in this part of the world too."
