VfB Stuttgart recorded a narrow but deserved 3-2 victory over third-division side SV Wehen Wiesbaden in a friendly on Wednesday, three days before Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side head to the Allgäu region for their pre-season training camp.
VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat: “You could tell we’re coming out of a very physical phase of our pre-season preparations, and that our opponents are already playing their first game of the season in two and a half weeks. Bearing in mind we took part in another intense session this morning, the players did pretty well in both halves. Everything was OK today. We’re monitoring our international players’ workload closely to ascertain who can be thrust straight into a game and who still needs extra training.”
