Victory over Brentford

VfB Stuttgart recorded a 2-1 friendly win over English Premier League outfit FC Brentford.

VfB Stuttgart rounded off their training camp with another friendly win, Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side overcoming English top-flight side FC Brentford 2-1 in Friedrichshafen on Saturday.

Bryan Mbeumo put the Premier League club ahead in the 19th minute, and the scoreline remained 1-0 until half-time. VfB played with greater purpose after the interval and were rewarded for their efforts in the 72ndminute when Thomas Kastanaras struck the equaliser. Tanguy Coulibaly converted a penalty awarded for handball in stoppage time to give VfB the win.

“It always does you good to end a training camp with a positive result,” said Matarazzo afterwards. “We’ve worked really well this week, and you could see that today. The boys were rewarded for that. We didn’t make the most of our chances in the opening period, so I’m all the more pleased that we scored twice in the second half. The boys that came off the bench showed that they’re on the right track, that they’re taking what we’re giving them on board and are making progress. I’m very pleased about that.”
