“Taking the energy with us”

The VfB squad have begun preparations for the away match at Bayern.

Chris Führich rescued a point at the last minute for VfB against VfL Wolfsburg last Saturday with his third goal of the season. “It’s not an easy period for us, but we hung in there and got the equaliser in the end,” said Führich. The winger came on as a substitute during the match, as did the assist provider Enzo Millot. “We wanted to inject some energy into the game,” added the 24-year-old.

The point may not have moved VfB any closer to safety, but they can take heart from the manner in which they earned it. “We’re taking the energy from the late equaliser with us, focussing fully on the next task and are going to give it our best shot there,” said Führich looking ahead to Matchday 33, when Stuttgart will be bidding to increase their points tally further – even though they face the toughest possible challenge in the Bundesliga. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side are away to champions FC Bayern Munich on Sunday at 17:30 CEST. “We need to be on it from the start in this match,” concluded Führich.
