Daniel Didavi to remain at VfB

The 31-year-old midfielder has signed a contract through to 30 June 2022.

Nürtingen-born Didavi first donned VfB colours at the tender age of seven, when he made his debut for the club’s youth team. Apart from spells with SPV 05 Nürtingen (2002/03), 1. FC Nürnberg (2011/2012) and VfL Wolfsburg (2016 to 2018), the 31-year-old has been an ever-present at Stuttgart since that first appearance in 1997.

Didavi is now set to spend the coming campaign with VfB after extending his contract with the club, which was due to expire at the end of the season, by a further year until 30 June 2022. ‘Dida’ has made 22 Bundesliga and three DFB Cup appearances this season, registering four goals and three assists.

Sporting director Sven Mislintat: “Daniel Didavi is our most prolific central midfielder this season. He’s very important for our game, both as a starter and from the bench. Furthermore, as a homegrown player, Dida embodies VfB and wears the shirt with great pride. We’re very happy that he’s staying with us and we look forward to the future with him.”

Daniel Didavi: “As a Stuttgart lad, I’m obviously delighted to follow the path we’ve set out on at VfB for another season. I belong here and I’m very happy about that. I’ll continue to try and play as well as possible for VfB, keep the competition for places and team spirit as strong as possible and support the younger players.”
