“Convert our performance into points again”

Sporting director Sven Mislintat looks ahead to the upcoming home match against FC Augsburg, where he’s hoping for a positive result for VfB.

“We’ve got a short, intense week ahead of us from Monday before we host Augsburg on Friday,” said Sven Mislintat. “We’re going to work flat out for four days.” The game has been brought forward by two days as Hertha BSC have three rearranged fixtures to fit in, which cannot be too close together. “That’s only fair,” acknowledged Mislintat.

The VfB sporting director is expecting a tough test on Friday evening: “Augsburg are a side who are still in the thick of the battle for survival and are going to put everything into this encounter. We want to follow on from our good performance in the reverse fixture and in recent matches, which – except for the first half at Union Berlin – have not been bad, in spite of the defeats. Against Augsburg we want to convert our performance into points again.”

One VfB player who could be involved again on Friday is Borna Sosa, who returned to full training this week. “He’s coming along very well,” Mislintat said.
