Silas Wamangituka featured in all of the first 26 matchdays of his debut Bundesliga season bar one, which he missed due to suspension. The 21-year-old, who has mostly been deployed on the right wing, has registered the second-most goal involvements for VfB in his 25 league appearances, with 11 goals and four assists (behind Sasa Kalajdzic with 16 goals and five assists). The Congolese is also among the fastest and strongest runners in the Bundesliga with a top speed of 35.42 km/h.
Silas was voted as Rookie of the Month in November, December and February, and was thus put forward for the vote for Rookie of the Season. The Rookie of the Month award recognises the best young newcomer in the Bundesliga every month. In four of the eight months of this season, the award has gone to VfB, who have fielded the youngest team on average in 2020/21.
