DFB sets sanction over Silas case

The German Football Association has suspended Silas Katompa Mvumpa for three months due to unsporting conduct – up to and including 11 September 2021 – and issued the player with a fine of 30,000 euros. The suspension covers all competitions. The VfB forward recently made it known to the club that he was the victim of manipulation by his former agent and Wamangituka is not his real surname.

Both Silas and VfB have accepted the verdict, making it legally binding.

“It was clear to him and us that Silas was going to be sanctioned by the DFB, and that’s the way it has to be according to the by-laws,” said sporting director Sven Mislintat. “At the same time, the verdict takes into account the exceptional circumstances of his case. We are glad that this concludes matters for Silas in terms of sporting legalities from the DFB.”
