Mavropanos staying at VfB

23-year-old set to play another season in Stuttgart.

VfB will be able to count on the services of Konstantinos Mavropanos for at least another year. The 23-year-old, who is under contract with Arsenal, will once again be on loan with the lads from Cannstatt in the 2021/22 season, with VfB having an option to buy. Mavropanos made 21 Bundesliga appearances for VfB last season plus another one in the DFB Cup, and during that time, he proved himself to be one of the club’s toughest players one-on-one, winning 63% of duels.

“We’ve always said that we’d like to have Dinos for longer at VfB insofar as we have the opportunity to do so," said director of sport Sven Mislintat. “Dinos made it clear from an early stage that he’d like to stay at VfB and we have been able to come to an arrangement with Arsenal that makes sense for both sides. Dinos is well on the way to becoming an absolutely top-quality central defender and we are delighted to have him at VfB again.”

"It was a real wish of mine to continue my career at VfB, and this is now going to be the case,” Mavropanos himself added. “I’d really like to thank the VfB family for the trust that they’ve shown in me and in particular Sven Mislintat and Pellegrino Matarazzo, both of whom are great guys and who have given me great support in a really professional way along my development path. I want to realise my full potential and help achieve the goals that the team has set.”
