Having tied down both Nicolas Gonzales and Wataru Endo to new deals in recent days, VfB Stuttgart have now extended Borna Sosa’s contract by a further two years. The 22-year-old signed on until 30 June 2023 after joining from Dinamo Zagreb in 2018, having come through the youth ranks and made 41 first-team appearances for the Croatian outfit. The left-back has now committed his long-term future to the club in time for VfB’s home game against FC Bayern Munich on Saturday 28 November.
Sosa made 12 Bundesliga appearances during the 2018/19 season, before appearing in 12 Bundesliga 2 matches and one DFB Cup tie in 2019/20. The defender has made the matchday squad on six occasions this season, registering four starts and an appearance off the bench. He was an unused substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Freiburg on Matchday 1.
VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat:
“We’re really pleased that Borna Sosa has committed his long-term future to VfB. Borna’s technical attributes, pace and understanding of the game in both defence and attack are very important for us.”
Borna Sosa:
“I’m very happy to have extended my contract until 2025. In nearly two and a half years since joining VfB, the club and the city have become very close to my heart. Things are also looking very positive in a sporting sense and I hope we can continue our development together in the future.”
