The 19-year-old defender, who is a Germany youth international, has been furthering his footballing education at VfB since 2018. He made his professional debut on 10 November 2018 in the 2-0 win away to Nürnberg, when he was just 17 years, five months and 19 days old.
In his first season at VfB, he won the DFB U19 Cup and made it to the final of the U19 Bundesliga. He also made 20 appearances last season for the club’s U21s and was a key factor in the team winning direct promotion back to the Regionalliga.
Sporting director Sven Mislintat:
"Antonis Aidonis is a top talent, who’s part of VfB’s long-term plans. He will be an integral part of the first-team squad with the clear intention of giving him playing time in the medium term. At the same time, we’ll be relying on Toni to be one of the key players in our U21 Regionalliga team."
Antonis Aidonis:
"It goes without saying that I wanted to take the next step in my career with VfB, and I’d like to thank the club for the trust that they’ve shown in me. I’ll be doing all I can to repay that trust and to build on the success that I’ve had here in my first two years.”
