Pablo Maffeo joins SD Huesca on loan

Pablo Maffeo has joined SD Huesca on a year-long loan with immediate effect, while the promoted Spanish top-flight outfit also hold an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

In the 2019/20 campaign, the 23-year-old made 32 appearances on loan at FC Girona in the Spanish second division, and a further three in the play-offs for promotion. The right-back joined VfB in 2018 and featured in eight Bundesliga matches and one DFB Cup game for the boys from Cannstatt.

Sporting director Sven Mislintat: “Pablo played regularly at Girona last season, and attracted the attention of other clubs in the process. The terms of his loan to Huesca makes it a sensible solution both for him and for VfB. We wish Pablo and his new club every success for the coming season.”
