Debut goals vs. Schalke

Two current VfB players opened their Bundesliga accounts against Schalke. Chadrac Akolo scored Stuttgart’s equaliser in an eventual 3-1 defeat to the Royal Blues on Matchday 3 of the 2017/18 campaign, while Nicolas Gonzalez netted his first league goal for the Cannstatt club in December’s 3-1 reverse at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Landmark appearance for Gentner

Since making his professional debut for the club in February 2005, Christian Gentner has represented VfB in the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Cup, DFB Cup and League Cup. If selected, the skipper will make his 500th competitive appearance for Stuttgart against Schalke this weekend.

Gentner made 129 appearances in all competitions for VfL Wolfsburg before joining VfB, for whom he has played 370 times.
