Hans Nunoo Sarpei has joined SpVgg Greuther Fürth on loan with immediate effect. The 20-year-old will spend the rest of the 2018/19 campaign with the Franconian second-division club, who have the option to buy the defensive midfielder on a permanent basis.
Sarpei swapped Ghana for Germany in 2016, joining VfB at just 18 years of age. The left-footed player made two Bundesliga appearances and one DFB Cup outing for the club, while also featuring 20 times for Slovakian top-flight side FK Senica during a loan spell last season.
Sporting director Michael Reschke:
“For a young player like Hans, regular playing time is of the utmost importance in order to gain match experience and gradually improve. In his position in central defensive midfield, the competition is such that it would have been difficult for him to play on a regular basis. After holding joint discussions with Hans and Fürth, we’ve decided on a loan deal that makes sense for everyone.”
