Weinzierl's troops host Eintracht, a side the VfB head coach described as "strong opponents unbeaten in their last six competitive games who come to the Mercedes-Benz Arena in form and with a lot of confidence."
The 43-year-old sees the DFB Cup holders' strengths as "their attacking power and speed in transition. We need to keep their quick attacking players – particularly Sébastien Haller, Luka Jovic und Ante Rebic – out of the game as much as we can."
A fixture that usually provides goals
Eintracht have only won on one of their last five visits to the Mercedes-Benz Arena, with VfB emerging victorious on three occasions. Indeed, Stuttgart have beaten and scored against Frankfurt more often than any other club in the Bundesliga (42 wins, 173 goals), although the Eagles have also scored more top-flight goals (154) against VfB than any other opponent. To prevent that happening on Friday, Weinzierl is looking to "shore up our defence and convey to the team that they attack together, defend together and give 110 per cent from the first to the last minute".

On the eve of the 93rd Bundesliga meeting between VfB and SGE, Weinzierl also underlined some fundamental values: "Everyone has to to show they deserve to be a VfB Stuttgart player. My players have the quality; now it's about showing it on the pitch. We'll give everything to hit our straps and to take something from the game – if possible three points."
Aogo and Kempf fit
After recovering from the muscle tear that has kept him out so far this season, Marc Oliver Kempf is fit to face his former club. Dennis Aogo is also available again after missing out last weekend due to a stomach bug, but Emiliano Insua is suspended.
