Ower the weekend of 25 and 26 August, captain Christian Gentner & Co. begin the new Bundesliga season away to 1. FSV Mainz 05. The 101st South-German derby against all-time record title holders FC Bayern Munich will take place on matchday 2 (31 August - 2 September) in the Mercedes-Benz Arena – the return game will be played on matchday 19 (25 – 28 January).
International breaks and busy weeks
The Bundesliga will take international breaks on the weekends of 7 - 9 September, 12 -14 October, 16 - 18 November and 22 - 24 March. There are packed weeks of Bundesliga action scheduled for Germany’s 18 elite sides on 25/26 September and 18/19 December.
Schalke to complete the campaign
To end the first half of the campaign, shortly before Christmas (21 - 23 December), the Cannstatt Boys host FC Schalke 04. Between the 18 and 21 January, the side in the shirts with the infamous red hoop return from the winter break to take on Mainz in the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The season then comes to an end for the Wasenelf on 18 May 2019, with a trip to Schalke.
