VfB sign Ailton Ferreira Silva

The 22-year-old Brazilian makes the move from GD Estoril Praia to VfB, where he has signed on until 2021.

VfB have added to their squad with the signing of Ailton Ferreira Silva. The 22-year-old Brazilian joins the Cannstatt Boys from GD Estoril Praia, on a deal binding him to the club until 2021. Ailton will wear the number 29 jersey with the infamous red hoop.

The 1,81 meter tall defensive specialist played as a youth with Fluminense Rio de Janeiro, before making his Brazilian Série A debut for Fluminense in 2013. In the 2015/2016 season, the defender was released on loan by Fluminense Rio de Janeiro to Neftchi Baku in Azerbaijan. Last season Ailton then made the move to Estoril Praia in Portugal. In his professional stations thus far, Ailton has made 67 competitive appearances, scoring four goals.

Jan Schindelmeiser, VfB Director of Sport:
"
Ailton is intended for the position on the left side of the defence. He recommended himself with consistently good performances in Portugal. We are of the opinion that he can enrich our squad with the quality he possesses."

Ailton Ferreira Silva:
"
I know the Bundesliga as one of the strongest leagues in Europe and VfB Stuttgart as a club were several Brazilian footballers have played. I am therefor very happy that the transfer to VfB has worked out and that I will have the opportunity to prove myself here."
