After three intensive and demanding days in the VfB training camp, now even Benjamin Pavard needs a brief breather. Otherwise, the Frenchman has few such rests – at least so far as his tally in the first half of the Bundesliga campaign is concerned. The 21-year-old, who has been in the shirt with the infamous red hoop since August 2016, is the only outfield player not to have missed a since match minute. And it was only a broken nose which kept the defender out of the DFB-Cup game in Mainz. Currently, Pavard is wearing a protective mask in training. And Benjamin Pavard has continually developed exceptionally well at his first club away from his homeland, with consistently impressive performances earning him a recommendation for a greater task back home. The technically gifted and aerially strong defender received the call from the French Under 21s into the 'A' national team, with whom he won two caps in November of last year. "I feel very comfortable here in Stuttgart. The coach and the team have placed their fate in me – that’s a good feeling," stated Pavard, who recently extended his current contract with VfB for a further year, until 2021.
Donning the number 21 jersey, the Frenchman has been a tireless battler in the VfB ranks – with an abundance of additional games to follow in the White-Red throughout the second half of the season. "The key is to continue working, no matter what. I want to continue my development," insisted Benjamin Pavard. And to make that possible, the defender will continue to sweat it out over the next few days in the training-camp. This Saturday, January 6th, Benjamin Pavard and his team mates will play their first test-friendly of the New Year, when they face FC Twente Enschede. Kick-off in La Manga is set for 15:00 CET.
