VfB goalkeeper Mitch Langerak, who is currently away on duty with the Australian national team, has made the decision to part company with the Cannstatt Boys with immediate effect and link up with UD Levante in Spain’s Primera Division.
Mitch Langerak made the move to VfB in the summer of 2015, but an injury incurred during pre-season preparations side-lined the keeper for a longer period, leading to Langerak managing just two Bundesliga and one DFB-Cup appearance for the Wasenelf in his first season at the club. Last season, the Australian international made 34 appearances for VfB in the '2. Bundesliga' and had a vital role to play in the Cannstatt Boys winning immediate promotion back to the Bundesliga. In addition, the keeper played two DFB-Cup games for VfB Stuttgart during the 2016/2017 campaign.
Michael Reschke, Sporting Director at VfB Stuttgart:
"Mitch was a cornerstone in VfB’s immediate return to the Bundesliga and a fantastic servant to the club. He understandably has had problems coming to terms with the role of reserve goalkeeper and we duly agreed to this transfer at his express wish. We wish Mitch all the very best and the greatest of success in the future."
Mitch Langerak:
"I would like to express my thanks to the VfB fans for their wonderful support over the past two years. Their help in us making our speedy return to the Bundesliga is something which will forever remain in my memory. I wish the team all the very best for the season ahead and I hope they achieve their goals. "
