Familiar faces

Phillipp Mwene wore the shirt with the infamous red hoop from July 2010 until the summer of 2016. Beginning in the ‘B-Youth’ team, by 2013 he had progressed on to the VfB reserves. Since last season, he has been a regular in the 1. FC Kaiserslautern defence.

First cup meeting

VfB and 1. FC Kaiserslautern clashed for the first time in the DFB-Cup back during the 1967/1968 season. The first round game on January 27th, 1968 finished in a 1-0 win for the Wasenelf. The goal-scorer on the day was Horst Köppel.
