Decisive meetings

And the side in the shirts with the infamous red hoop also played a decisive match in the Bundesliga against the club from the Lausitz region. In 2006/2007, VfB beat Cottbus 2-1 on match-day 34, to take the German championship title. The goal-scorers for the Cannstatt Boys were Thomas Hitzlsperger and Sami Khedira.
On the run
The Wasenelf have won each of their last five meetings with Energie Cottbus, notching up an impressive goal-difference of 11:1.
On target
Cottbus front-man Streli Mamba has scored four goals in three 'Regionalliga' games so far this season, whilst also weighing in with two assists. For Streli Mamba, this weekend will see him face his former club, having played for VfB’s Under 17s from 2010 until 2011.
Regionalliga tally
FC Energie have played three games so far this season in Germany’s fourth-flight, leaving the field of play as winners on each occasion. The ‚Lausitzer‘ are thus top of the ‚Regionalliga Nordost‘ with a goal-difference of 12:1.
