Emiliano Insua was basically an ever-present in his past two seasons with VfB – hardly missing a minute on the pitch. So far this season, Insua is without a minute of action in his personal statistics. The reason: In the final pre-season test at the beginning of August against Real Betis, the full-back suffered a deep cut to his thigh and required stitches. Over the past few weeks, Emiliano Insua has been working hard on his comeback – most recently at home in Argentina. Now the defender is back on the VfB club grounds and was speaking about the past few weeks.
Hello Emiliano, welcome back to the VfB grounds. How are you doing?
Emiliano Insua: "Thanks. Over the past two and a half weeks I went through an individual training programme with a physiotherapist in Argentina and was also in contact with the trainer-team from the Argentine national side. All’s gone well so far. Now I am just happy to be back here to continue working on my comeback."
So what is on the training schedule for you now?
Emiliano Insua: "Over the next few weeks, I will be working above all with Frank Haile (VfB Prevention and Rehabilitation Trainer) and hope to return to full team training as quickly as possible. However, I know that I need to be patient. We’ll see how things go from week to week."
On Saturday, for the home game against VfL Wolfsburg, you’ll be back in the Mercedes-Benz Arena…
Emiliano Insua: "…yes, but unfortunately watching from the stands. I am looking forward to the atmosphere in the stadium and I’ll be cheering on the lads. Hopefully I will be back on the pitch with them again very soon. That’s something I will be working hard towards achieving."
