Cup tie in Mainz

On Sunday afternoon, the draw was made for the DFB-Cup 'Round of 16'. The result for VfB was a trip to 1. FSV Mainz 05.

Whilst VfB faced SC Freiburg in a capacity filled Mercedes-Benz Arena on Sunday afternoon, former German international Stefan Effenberg made the draw for the pairings in the DFB-Cup 'Round of 16', during the 'ARD-Sportschau' programme.

The result of the draw for VfB Stuttgart was a trip to 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the next round. In August, Hannes Wolf’s men came through the first-round with a win at 'Regionalliga' side FC Energie Cottbus and secured a 'Round of 16' place last Wednesday evening with a win at second division 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The games in the next round of the competition will be played out on December 19^th and 20^th. The exact fixture schedule will follow shortly.
