A tired, but happy, Alexandru Maxim took to the training pitch on Tuesday morning. The flight carrying the Cannstatt Boys back from Bielefeld touched down late in Stuttgart and by 11:00 CET, the players were back on the pitch for a regenerative training session. "They were three very important points for us at a critical stage in the season," explained the midfielder after the morning session in an interview with VfB TV. The Romanian had had a vital part to play in making it three goals, and three points, for the Wasenelf. Maxim was on target from distance to intermittently make it 1-1. "We got into the game well from the start of the second-half. I tried my luck and fortunately the shot landed in the back of the net. I am very happy about that personally, but more important is that we performed successfully as a team," explained the 26-year-old.
There was little time for Alexandru Maxim and his team mates to rest up after the away success in Bielefeld though. "We have five games to go, so we must continue to work and battle hard. Every match is like a final for us now," stated VfB’s number 10. After a day of rest on Wednesday, the Cannstatt Boys will be back at work on Thursday, as they prepare for next Monday night’s clash with 1. FC Union Berlin at the Mercedes-Benz Arena (kick-off 20:15 CET).
