Following an early training session, on Friday afternoon, the VfB crew got on the road to Grassau. At the training camp on the banks of Lake Chiemsee, head coach Tayfun Korkut’s men will undergo an intensive week of pre-season preparations. During their stay in the region, the Wasenelf will play a friendly against Spanish first division side SD Eibar (Sunday, July 29th, 14:30 CEST in Heimstetten, near Munich).
For the first time in preparing for the 2018/2019 campaign, VfB’s 24-man squad includes Mario Gomez. Following his World Cup involvement and subsequent holiday, the striker undertook the obligatory medical examination on Friday morning, before joining up with his old, and some new, team mates.
